From careless consumption. To better use.
Our journey towards sustainability together with you

Consume less.
Sellpy was founded in 2014 to promote better use of clothes and items. We have given over 30 million things a new home.
We aim to inspire smarter shopping and greater awareness of the environmental impact of consumption.
For many items, we show estimated water and CO2 impact for similar new products. By buying second-hand, you save resources and reduce emissions.
Most items come from private sellers, but we also help selected companies give their unsold goods a second chance.
Together we have saved:
267,297
tonnes of carbon dioxide
equal to...
…271,093 flights between London and New York
105,055
million liters of water
equal to...
…what's needed to produce 750,395,980 cups of coffee
Our footprint
Along the way of handling and selling items, we will also generate a certain amount of greenhouse gas emissions. We call it our footprint and it covers emissions from Sellpy's operations and our partners – such as energy consumption, production of packaging materials, pick ups and deliveries. Producing a new item requires more resources than Sellpy's handling and transport of a pre-owned item. Nevertheless it is our responsibility to continuously work on reducing our own emissions. You can see an estimation of our footprint on the product page for the specific item.

Second hand habits
The second hand trend is rising. But how do we consume pre-owned today? Sellpy asked 1,000 Swedes about their second hand habits and collected the insights in a report.

Key insights from the report
63.9% rate sustainability and the environment as (rather) important when buying clothes but 38.9% buy new clothes at least on a monthly basis
Every third person has more than 10 unworn pieces of clothing in their closet
82% find that second hand shopping is more socially accepted today than 5 years ago
Questions and answers
Every day, we handle thousands of items in our warehouses, and our goal is to send them out in the same condition they arrived. To protect the items and ensure safe shipping, we have carefully selected packaging together with our partners that meets high standards – such as our iconic blue Sellpy bag made from 100% recycled material and the clear plastic bag that allows for visual quality checks. Our aim is for this bag to become fully recyclable as well.
At Sellpy, we take our climate impact seriously and work actively to reduce our own. By encouraging more people to buy and sell second-hand, we extend the lifespan of products that would otherwise risk becoming waste. We invest in solar panels to make our warehouses more energy-efficient and work with our partners to make both packaging and deliveries more sustainable – for example, with reusable paper bags and fossil-free transport where possible.
We take responsibility for reducing the climate impact of our services, but we know our customers also want to make a difference. Here are a few simple tips:
As a seller – fill each Sellpy bag as much as possible and send in all the bags you’ve ordered. Double-check your address, door code, and phone number to ensure smooth pickup.
As a buyer – try to place fewer orders with more items in each. And if your order is delivered to a pickup point, make sure to collect it on time.
