Welcome to Sellpy

Second hand made simple.

OUR MISSION

A simpler way to shop and sell second hand

It started in 2014 with a simple idea – to make selling second hand easily accessible and hassle-free to the masses. Today, that same idea has grown into one of Europe’s largest platforms for pre-owned items, built on the belief that choosing second hand should be just as easy as buying new.

We’ve turned the second hand process into a full-service experience by removing the "hassle" for both buyers and sellers. By handling the photos, quality assurance, and shipping, we’re helping millions of items every year find a new home instead of a hidden corner of a closet. . It’s no small task, but we are committed to keep things in motion – working item by item, bag by bag, to help give things a longer life.

WHAT WE DO

Simple second hand shopping and selling

Buying and selling pre-owned online hasn’t always been the easiest experience. It can be time-consuming, a bit of a hassle and sometimes just awkward. Sellpy makes it simple to both buy and sell second hand by taking care of the complicated parts on both ends.

Shop at Sellpy

Every item in our vast assortment is checked by our team for quality and condition. The vast majority of our items are sourced from our community of sellers across 10 markets. In addition, we also partner with selected companies to help find new homes for items they’re no longer able to sell themselves, such as samples, returns with small defects or other individual items. And the best part? You can combine all your finds into one delivery, and never have to coordinate with a seller. And just like any modern e-commerce, we make sure the basics work exactly as they should: secure payments, fast and reliable delivery, and a no-fuss 30-day return policy.

Sell with Sellpy

Selling with Sellpy is designed to be a hands-off process for you. Once you’ve filled your bag, we take it from there. We quality check every item for condition and defects, handle the photography, and write the item descriptions. All you have to do is review the listings and pricing, and decide what to do with any items that didn't meet our criteria for resale. Our goal is to keep as many items in use as possible. If an item cannot be sold or doesn't find a buyer on our platform - and is not requested back by the seller - we pass it to our specialized partners who further sort the items according to the EU Waste Hierarchy. Your items are published for sale in 24 European markets and we do our best to find a new buyer. For example, we gradually drop prices over time to increase the chance that the item is sold, handle all questions from buyers and even offer a 30-day return right - at our own risk. As soon as the proceeds from your sale cover the listing costs, you have several options on payout: You can choose to have the money paid out directly, convert it into Sellpy Credits for your next find, or donate it to a charitable cause of your choice.

How we measure the impact of second hand shopping

By choosing second hand items over new ones, you can contribute to extending a product's lifespan and make use of the resources invested in an item's original production – such as the water to grow the cotton or energy used to produce polyester. To help our community understand the potential benefits of choosing second hand instead of new, we provide estimations of avoided CO₂e emissions and water usage. These figures are not exact measurements of a specific item's footprint but an estimated impact of producing a new similar item against an item sold on our platform. Our calculations use "representative items" for each category to model average material compositions and weights, combined with industry-standard emission factors for manufacturing and logistics. In addition, we apply a replacement rate based on our customer surveys, which accounts for the fact that not every second hand purchase replaces a new one. For a detailed breakdown of our data sources and the limitations of these models, please visit our FAQ.

Sellpy's own footprint

Picking up items from our sellers, sorting them in our warehouse and delivering them to our buyers also generates emissions. We calculate our own CO₂ emissions including energy consumption for warehouses and offices, the production of packaging materials, internal transport, collection and delivery services, waste management, business travel, employee commuting, and data services. The climate impact of an item bought via Sellpy is influenced by factors such as the distance it has been transported or its estimated weight. Comparing the emissions of a newly produced item with an item bought via Sellpy we can estimate how much water and CO₂ is avoided.
