Beyond clothes: the surprising everyday items that sell fast on Sellpy

Most people order their first Sellpy bag to clear out a wardrobe. Then they discover the part nobody tells you about: some of the fastest-selling things in our warehouse aren't clothes at all.

We can see what people search for on Sellpy, and there is consistent, year-round demand for categories most sellers never think to send in. Hobby supplies. Toys. Old cameras. The stuff sitting in a cupboard that you assumed nobody would want.

Here are six things worth putting in the bag next to the jeans.

1. Yarn and craft supplies

This is the one that surprises people most. Knitters buy yarn faster than they can knit it, then look for somewhere to pass on the surplus — and other knitters go looking for discontinued colours and dye lots they can't get new.

  • Why it sells: a huge share of the yarn in our warehouse is listed as brand new and unused, because it came from someone's overstocked stash rather than a finished project.
  • What to send in: full skeins, leftover balls from a project, unused needles, patterns and fabric. Craft supplies are light, so they cost almost nothing to ship in a Sellpy bag.

2. LEGO and building sets

LEGO holds its value better than almost any toy ever made, and second hand demand is constant rather than seasonal.

  • Why it sells: parents restocking, collectors chasing retired sets, and adults rebuying the sets they had as kids. Retired sets in particular can be worth considerably more than they cost new.
  • What to send in: complete sets are ideal, but don't discard incomplete ones — loose bricks and mixed bulk sell too. Include the instruction booklets if you still have them; they measurably help a set sell.

3. Cameras — especially the old ones

Analogue photography came back and never left. Film compacts and older SLRs are among the most-searched items on the whole platform, and supply is nowhere near demand.

  • Why it sells: the exact cameras that sat unused in drawers for twenty years — point-and-shoot film compacts, manual SLRs, early digital compacts — are now the ones people actively hunt for.
  • What to send in: bodies, lenses, flashes and bags, from Canon and Nikon especially. Mention in good faith whether it has been tested; buyers of old cameras expect quirks but want to know what they're getting.

4. Puzzles and board games

A puzzle gets completed once or twice and then occupies shelf space forever. Meanwhile someone else is searching for exactly that puzzle.

  • Why it sells: it's an inherently circular category — the fun is in doing it, not owning it, so the same box can pass through several households.
  • What to send in: Ravensburger and other quality-brand puzzles, plus family board games. Count the pieces first if you can, and say so in the listing — "complete, checked" sells far faster than an unknown.

5. Vinyl, CDs and cassettes

Physical music is firmly back, and it is one of the easiest categories to pack.

  • Why it sells: records and CDs are durable, compact and highly searchable — people look for specific albums by name, which means a well-labelled listing finds its buyer quickly.
  • What to send in: LPs, singles, CDs and even cassettes. Sleeve condition matters as much as the disc, so pass on the ones that survived storage well.

6. Kitchenware that was built to last

Cast iron, enamel pots and quality pans effectively don't wear out, which makes them ideal second hand — but sellers rarely think to include them.

  • Why it sells: a well-seasoned cast iron pot is arguably better than a new one, and buyers know it.
  • A note on this one: our kitchen category is smaller than the five above, so it's less of a guaranteed quick sale — but it is also the least competitive, which cuts both ways.

The rule of thumb: if it's in good condition and somebody once paid real money for it, it's worth putting in the bag. You are not limited to clothes, and the categories above are some of the least competitive places to sell.

Every category above is one where buyers consistently outnumber sellers, which is exactly why they are worth browsing too. See what is in the warehouse beyond clothes.
